help! the sql query in 'past experiments' for import experiment does NOT match the query we added to data sources "Standardized Experiment Assignment Query" I've tried a lot of things and it still reflects an outdated query. I cannot edit the query for 'past experiments'
f
what is different about it? usually its just date
a
It's a completely different query
but experiments that show up using the query in Standardized Experiment Assignment Query do not show up if i run 'past experiments'
f
huh, do you have multiple data sources?
a
nope - only 1
i noticed that this (in "past experiments") is only pulling from a day, instead of aug 3, 2025-2026
@fresh-football-47124 - is this something editable from your teams end?
i'm not sure if this is the reason why it's occuring, but my hypothesis why experiments are missing in this import
(also, thank you so much in advance!)
f
oh, that's an option
you can set the lookback window for past experiments
a
the help docs directions are to update it in the Standardized Experiment Assignment Query. I've done that
and it's still not working on the past experiments filter
f
what dates did you set?
a
in Standardized Experiment Assignment Query, there is no way to set up dates
this is what i've set up in import tool
f
I'll take a look at the code
a
thanks
i've confirmed in both snowflake and Standardized Experiment Assignment Query that the experiment is showing up and could be imported. i do not know why it won't show up in the import tool and have tried following help docs/growthbooks docs ai...I'm stumped
thank you so much @fresh-football-47124!!!! really appreciate it
There should be 3 experiments to import (with 1 already imported) but the import experiment tool is only pulling in 2
f
are you sure its not just hiding the one already imported?
are you on the cloud or self-hosting?
a
On cloud. It's only showing the 2 that have been imported. the 3rd hasn't been imported, and is the one missing when i run the query to import

Hi Alisha, GrowthBook Support here. I think I’ve found the root cause. GrowthBook's import tool skips any day where an experiment gets 5 or fewer users in a variation to filter out noise, but it also hides low-traffic experiments. Your said your experiment (
ff_mixed_guided_onboarding_exp
) has 28 users total across 2 variations over about 6 days (roughly 2-3 users per variation per day). Since that never crosses the 5-user threshold, the tool just excludes it. Once the experiment gets more daily traffic (crossing 5+ users/variation on at least one day), it should start showing up. Here's the relevant code: github.com/growthbook/growthbook/blob/…/past-experiment-query.ts#… Let me know if you have any questions!
a
Thanks for looking into this! One question: what if this targeted-segment experiment never exceeds 5 users per variation in a single day? In that case, would GrowthBook never be able to import it, meaning we'd need to analyze it in another tool? Or is there another recommended workflow for low-traffic experiments? Thanks!
f
its just in total
if you know the date range and experiment tracking key/id you could create a new experiment with that info, and then adjust the date range back to when you know it started
it would have the same effect as importing it
a
okay - thank you so much! really appreciate this
