Hi, I followed the instructions in this guide to set up GA4 as a data source, and the setup was successful. Next, I checked for a data source, but none was available, so I created one manually. Finally, when reviewing the schema, I couldn't find any events or tables, which suggests something might be wrong. Shouldn't a data source with tables be created automatically?
f
that does sound not right
when you followed the guide, did you add the data source then?
did you click on BigQuery and GA4 options?
q
no i haven't added anything initially manually, i followed same as

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w8MBaBqcVZI&t=375s

when you followed the guide, did you add the data source then? laterly in GB when i uploaded json file, it says no dataset found so then i created new dataset.
there is a statement in https://docs.growthbook.io/guide/bigquery "Growthbook will use the
Project Id
and
Dataset
you enter as the default ones when creating queries." here i don't get the part when "ones when creating queries" beucase creating dataset or creating tables or running query doesn't metnioned into video or tutorial?
f
I know somethings have changed since we made that video
but when you add the data source, be sure to select GA4, and then enter the ProjectId during setup
q
okay let me try it again
okay i tried and it's same i think there is something wrong between google console and google analytics as it supposed to create a dataset and tables of events but it didn't create. so i will leave GA4 as of now, i will try to setup matomo tomorrow, thanks anyways!
do you have any doc link to connect with custom table in mysql because matomo seems complicated
f
if you just set up GA4 -> Bigquery connection, it will up to 24 hours to create the initial tables
We support Matomo's data structure for the initial assignment queries- it will create them automatically
but the metrics will be harder
Matomo's data structure is... interesting
q
if you just set up GA4 -> Bigquery connection, it will up to 24 hours to create the initial tables ahh okay then it make sense to wait for 24h and then take it forward
