Hey everyone! We have set up GrowthBook pro tier for 2 years and want to measure new user retention now, we tried to build that metric through using Segment but failed, the metric looks really off. Can anyone help? Thanks!
f
hi Jay - the query looks off?
n
the numbers looks off, we did the SQL in the db and got accurate numbers, but when we add the metric to experiments it looks really wrong
f
we do a lot of joining when you use it as a segment
n
What's the right way to get new user retention(D1, D7, D14) on Growthbook?
f
so segments work to filter experiment results to just those users.
sounds like you should create a retention fact table, and then 3 metrics based on the days as filters
right @helpful-application-7107?
h
Yes! I recommend you create a "retention" metric on top of a fact table and use that for your analysis alongside any other metrics of interest.
n
Yea we did, but we already have a retention fact table, but we have no idea how to make one for new user retention
h
Hmm, I see. You want retention defined with respect to a signup event, not an experiment exposure event?
n
it should be both, I want to see if the experiment will affect the new user behavior
