Hey All! We are using the Javascript SDK on the client side to run experiments with growthbook which has been working great for us 🙌. Now we have a requirement to run server side experiments with traffic splitting and variation assignment done by our internal systems and not growthbook. I wished to ask if we can force the variants in growthbook experiment in some way if possible?

Hi Ustatleen, I talked this over with one of our engineers, and while you *can* do this, we're a little confused about why you would want to. Could you tell me more about your use case? Are you wanting to sun server-side experiments and client-side experiments at the same time? If the user bucketing is working well on the client-side, why do you want to do your own bucketing yourself? If you use GrowthBook to bucket users on the client-side, but your own method to bucket users on the server-side, the buckets won't match and it will be hard to compare the analyses. If you are going to do the bucketing yourself, you likely don't need the GrowthBook SDK since you'd only be using the GrowthBook dashboard for analyzing the experiments. I hope this info is helpful. If you can answer my questions I might be able to provide more info.

So the use case is that we are wanting to run server side experiments and show different UI based on the cookie set by our cloudfront config which shall correspond to different variants of the experiment. Based on that we want to track data for which we were thinking of using Growthbook and map our variation assignment to the split done by growthbook as it was being done by Google Optimise.
But thanks for clarifying that if we do our own bucketing then we don't need GB. In this case, we just import the experiment on the dashboard and do the analysis, right?

Hi Ustatleen, thanks for providing this info! You are correct, if you are going to do your own bucketing you do not need to use the GrowthBook SDK. You would import the experiment and use GrowthBook to run your analyses.

Do you have any other questions about this process?
