What is the difference between archiving and deleting a ff?

Archiving is kind of a "soft delete". It still exists in the database, retains its audit trail, and can be unarchived in the future if needed. We recommend archiving over deleting most of the time because of this.

Thanks. Is there any type of alert for FFs (not archived nor deleted apparently) that have a lifetime over say X months so that they are deleted?

Not yet, but we're actively working on stale feature flag detection and plan to release it this month
